John W. Folds, of the Corinth Community, died Friday, January 26, 1990 at age 28 in the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Mr. Folds, a volunteer fireman, was assisting rescue workers at the scene of an auto accident when he suffered cardiac arrest.
Mr. Folds was born December 11, 1961 in LaGrange and was a life-long resident of Corinth. He was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church, an employee of Midwest Steel Company of Hogansville, and had served as a Heard County volunteer fireman for six years. John was a charter member of Station 8 (Corinth) volunteers. He became a volunteer firefighter for Heard County in October 1983. John was a volunteer during the initial creation of the volunteer corps for that area and during the building of Station 8. While a volunteer, John attained his First Class Firefighter Certificate.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Folds of Corinth; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia June Skipper of Franklin, Mrs. Paula Hempstead of Dade City, Florida and Mrs. Lorene Garnto of Poulan; and two brothers, Jerry Lee Folds and Marcus Folds, both of Corinth.
